Abstract
Some mathematical models for the formation of meteor streams are
developed. The meteor streams described in the models are patterned
after the Perseid/Swift-Tuttle
and the Quadrantid streams. The models
incorporated observational data on particle ejection speed, radiation
pressure, increased orbital flux, and the effects of Jovian orbital
perturbations on both visual and radio meteors in the Perseid and
Quadrantid systems. On the basis of a comparison between model
predictions and observational data, it is shown that regular meteor
showers can be produced by young meteor streams as well as by old ones.
